Legion Arena · Closed Alpha guide

Your first battle starts here.

Control your champion, give your army a purpose, and keep your team’s strongholds standing. This guide covers the first decisions that matter in the Closed Alpha. An Alpha access code is required to download the Windows launcher.

Start with a local match.

  1. Begin with the controls.

For existing Closed Alpha testers, local 1v1 training offers a place to learn selection and army orders without account sign-in. Enter your code on the Join Alpha page to start the protected launcher download.

  2. Pick a champion.

Garran (Ironward) protects the front, Vaelis (Veilkeeper) supports allies, Ryn (Wildstalker) attacks from a clear firing line, and Caeron (Elementalist) controls space with magic. Meet the four champions and their kits.

  3. Find your main building.

Your main building controls army production and standing orders. Basic melee troops recruit before you research a path. Use the preparation period to get your bearings and make your first decisions.

Champion and army, under your control.

Selection decides what your next command affects. Select your champion before casting abilities; select your troops when you want to move the legion.

Q and W are available at champion level 1. E unlocks at level 2, and R at level 4. Your champion earns no XP while down, so staying alive helps you keep pace.

Give your legion a direction.

At your main building, research one of three production paths. Your choice lasts for the round. Troops recruited before the research remain; new production follows your chosen path.

Melee

Commit to a close-combat line. Use it to hold ground and put bodies between enemy damage and your more vulnerable allies.

Ranged

Produce an archer force. Keep a useful firing position, protect it from a collapsing front, and move it before enemies reach it.

Magic

Produce a magical force. Support it with positioning and watch how your opponents approach before committing the next push.

Upgrade your army’s tier as you earn gold. That gold can also strengthen your champion: consider which investment helps your team right now.

Defend, then choose your push.

Your army begins with a defensive order. Opening gates does not automatically send it into battle. Use your main building to keep it on Defend or set Automatic Engage toward a chosen enemy team.

You can still select the legion and issue direct commands. Send it where it matters, then return to your champion. Watch the minimap while you fight: another team can threaten home while you are pressing forward.

Fight for strongholds.

Destroy opposing strongholds while protecting your team’s remaining ones. Victory comes when only one team has surviving strongholds. A timer does not decide the winner.

A good first match is a chance to learn the rhythm: select, order, cast, invest and look back at home. Getting more comfortable with those choices matters before chasing a perfect build.

Take it online.

Closed Alpha testers sign in inside the game for the four-team queue: four teams of three seats. Bots can fill open seats during the alpha. Matches with fewer human opponents have reduced rating weight, and being the only human cannot advance your rating.

The 1v1 mode remains local training. Team matches use the four-team queue within the Closed Alpha.
