Ellaris MMORPG · Three playable classes
The browser MMORPG’s closed alpha begins with three distinct roles. Playing requires a tester access code and an Ellaris account. Pick the way you want to approach a fight: stand your ground, strike from range or keep your allies going.
Tank · Melee
The armored front line. Ironward is a close-combat class built around strength and rage. Its starting kit gives you direct weapon attacks and the tools to begin learning the tank role.
Step into melee, watch your health, and build a feel for the pace of your attacks. When playing with others, help keep enemies occupied while the group works around you.
You enjoy standing close to the danger and learning a fight from its front line.
Ranged · Caster
The spellcaster at a distance. Elementalist uses mana to turn fire and frost into offensive spells. It trades heavy armor for a ranged approach to combat.
Begin encounters from a useful distance and watch your mana between fights. Learn how spell timing and slowing a target can buy time before it reaches you.
You like casting from range, managing a resource and planning how an enemy approaches.
Heal · Support
The healer with an offensive side. Veilkeeper uses mana for healing, protection and damaging spells, making it a natural starting point for a support role.
Watch ally health as well as your target. Choose when to spend mana on damage and when to save it for recovery. Learn your own limits before taking on more enemies.
You enjoy helping a group stay in the fight, while still having spells for your own adventure.
Your starting kit
Open the spellbook with P and drag available abilities to your action bar. Put the spells you reach for most often on keys that feel comfortable. Your class is the beginning of learning that rhythm.

Duskward, Wildstalker, Nightblade, Wildmender and Hexbinder are part of the broader class vision. They are not selectable classes in the current browser alpha.
Expanded specializations and abilities remain development work. The three playable classes above are the starting roster.
Your questions, answered
A few things to know before you step in.
Ironward, Elementalist and Veilkeeper are the three current choices for admitted closed-alpha testers. The wider class concepts shown in Ellaris development material are not all playable in this alpha.
Once admitted to the closed alpha, you can begin questing on your own. The classes give you different ways to approach combat, and their roles also matter when you choose to play with other people.
Wildstalker is one of the four current champions in Legion Arena. In the browser MMORPG it belongs to the wider class vision and is not a current selectable class.
Open your spellbook in the game to see your available abilities and arrange them on the action bar. The beginner guide covers those first steps.
